William A. Moore, 1956
Winner of The Fisher Body Craftsman's Guild competition, William A. Moore, 1956
Bill is seen here filing and fitting the rough-cut rear bumper to what would be a top award winning 1/12 scale model car carved from poplar wood. The rear bumper was assembled from multiple pieces of brass, which were silver-soldered together and included a license plate mount area. The whole bumper assembly was polished to perfection then chrome-plated for the competition. Completing the brass joints with silver-solder prevent the brilliant chrome-plate luster from becoming dull at those points.
